Newel Auctions is pleased to present an auction drawn from three distinguished Manhattan interiors, each shaped by one of New York’s most influential design talents: Thierry Despont, MAC II, and Stephen Bastone. Their clients—titans of business, fashion, and art—sought out these designers for their keen ability to create interiors that marry old-world luxury with the ease and sophistication of contemporary living.
Spanning centuries and styles, the sale brings together European antiques, Modern design, and custom furnishings created or sourced by the designers. French, English and Baltic antiques and lighting are presented alongside furniture by Paolo Buffa, Phillip & Kelvin LaVerne, and Ico Parisi. An expansive selection of artwork includes a large oil on canvas by Ana Mercedes Hoyos, a painting by outsider artist William L. Hawkins, and multiple works by Sol LeWitt.
Additional highlights include an 18th-century pietra dura table, a selection of rare E.F. Caldwell lamps, and dining chairs sourced by Thierry Despont and attributed to Marc du Plantier.
